Josh is interested in exploring larger visions for Sault Ste. Marie, including Mosaic—a project described by Jeremy Hannah that asks what our streets, waterfront, buildings and surrounding landscape could become when considered together.

These are ideas for discussion, not approved developments or promises to build them. Residents and prospective partners can ask questions, offer alternatives and help identify what would make an idea workable.

The vision argument

More than one project. A broader economic base.

Josh agrees that visions like Mosaic deserve serious examination. If their individual parts prove workable and are carried through responsibly, they could help diversify Sault Ste. Marie’s economy and build greater long-term confidence in the city.

The case is not that one attraction will transform the Sault. It is that several independently accountable places could reinforce one another—bringing in outside activity, creating more reasons to stay, widening the market for local businesses, and supporting work across more industries and seasons.

A broader base

If feasible and successfully delivered, the ideas could add demand across hospitality, events, culture, construction, transportation, technical services, local supply, and independent business—alongside the employers and industries that already sustain the Sault.

Confidence for residents

A more varied economy cannot prevent every downturn, but it can create more ways to make a living and reduce dependence on any one employer, industry, project, or season. The goal is greater peace of mind for people deciding whether to build their future here.

Confidence for investment

People deciding where to commit capital need more than a compelling image. Confidence grows from demonstrated demand, capable partners, clear permissions, transparent costs, accountable operators, and a city that makes decisions and follows through predictably.

Gore Street / Split Street

A destination-street concept involving food, culture, small enterprise, and reasons to spend time there. “Split Street” is a possible identity to examine; renaming is one question, not the whole project.

Wonder Wharf

One connected permanent fairground and attraction concept across the proposed waterfront areas, with performance, food, markets, gathering places, and possible indoor uses.

A substantial exhibition and convention conversion concept involving approximately the western half of Station Mall, subject to measured plans, ownership discussions, and feasibility.

The Canyon After the Train

An Agawa Canyon overnight and ridge experience with a proposed cross-river gondola, accommodation, and landscape-focused stay. Location, rights, access, environment, engineering, and operations are open questions.
